Throughout our lives we have countless lies spoken over us. From appearance to performance, we have heard unbearable lies about ourselves. And unfortunately many of us spend years, maybe even our entire lives believing these lies.

It’s a rough road. Trust me, I’ve been there. We’ve all been there.

Whether it was a teacher saying you weren’t smart enough;

a parent saying you haven’t performed well enough;

a girl saying you’re not cool enough;

or a boy saying you’re not pretty enough…

we have felt like we were never enough.

It’s a pretty horrific reality if you ask me. Believing these lies pushes into a state of being that focuses on how well we do at things we can and cannot control. We end up living a life trying to prove to the world that we are worth their time and energy. That’s exhausting.

But what if instead of trying to fight to be better than what everyone is speaking over us, why don’t we try believing that we are better than those disgusting lies.

What if when someone said “You’re not good enough,” we said

“Yes I am, even if you don’t think I am.”

It’s a difficult journey to get there but trust me it’s worth it.

Recently I have been realizing that I have some deeply embedded jealousy into my being because of lies that I choose (yep, we get to CHOOSE what we believe) to believe for years. It’s been painful to dissect the root of this problem but I am finally feeling real healing because I am consciously making a different choice than I did before.

And through this whole process The Lord has been speaking the same beautiful phrase over me,

“Sweet daughter, you are precious just the way you are.”

And as I have sat and meditated on this He has shown me that I am more precious than a precious gemstone. And the greatest thing about being better than a gemstone is that people find rubies, sapphires, and emeralds precious not because of all of this work that they have done or achievements they have made. No, they are found precious and beautiful in their natural state of being. They don’t have to earn it or fight for it. They just have to simply be.

How relieving is that!?! I literally just have to be me and I am considered precious. No work, no accomplishment, nothing at all!

Katherine Leipold is found precious, beautiful, and worth it all because of her just being her.

Golly that’s great.

But the even greater thing is that this reality is not just for me to bask in. It’s for you, your mom, your next door neighbor, and everyone else you may encounter in this world.

We are ALL precious and worthy in the eyes of Christ.

So instead of believing everything that the rest of the world is telling us, why don’t we listen to what the creator of all of mankind and the universe has to say. That make sense. Like a lot more sense.

You are precious.

Your are worthy.

You are valued just the way you are.

So, let’s believe it together.
